LOW-RISE HOUSING

Designed for mainly singles or couples, these low rise housing units test how space can be organized from a horizontal to a vertical manner. Each unit consists of 23'x36' of the site; however, a communal path runs across the entire site to allow accessibility into each unit.

Because the units have the same volumetric space, the larger the outdoor space, the taller the unit becomes. The less indoor space a unit has, the more outdoor space is available. The pergola creates shade for the outdoor spaces below. Using a system of movable walls, these designated outdoor spaces can be open to public or enclosed to create a large living space for the unit.
